Let it Be Christmas

Heard such a great sermon last week at church on the meaning of Advent. I really had no idea what it meant at all. - And I am now in love with the message that it carries. Advent (in a nut shell) means hope and expectation that something better is coming. So much relief coming from that word for me. It holds so much promise. The first advent was Christ's Birth, and the 2nd advent is the return of Christ. In between those two, is where we sit now. There is something so cleansing about waiting. I think that God really uses that time to purify our motives, and in a society that is now so programed with instantaneous satisfaction, I was slapped a little bit with reality during this sermon, as I was thinking about how much I was allowing myself to miss out by not giving myself the chance to wait on the Lord's timing and trying to seek it out on my own. It is in the waiting that our love grows, and where miracles get bigger.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." JER. 29:11
